A bad combination. Maybe God is punishing me for the pig that I accidentally ingested this morning for breakfast? (However, I think the ensuing daylong nausea would have been punishment enough, thank you very much.) For those of you who don’t know me quite as well, I do try my very best to keep a basic sort of kosher by not eating shellfish, mixing dairy with meat products, and certainly not eating pig.
How did this happen then? Well, my host mom buys these deli meats that are made from “geflügel fleisch” which means poultry meat and they are usually quite tasty. I saw that she had bought a new one and decided to try it out…A couple of slices later of this “geflügel fleisch” I realized that something felt a bit off and decided to read the back contents. BIG. MIS. TAKE. Sometimes what you don’t know can’t hurt you, because when you do find out. It comes back to haunt you in the form of bodily rejection.
Just to put it in perspective, I haven’t had any pork for years and that might have been more responsible than God’s anger…
Another bad idea? Paying for an overpriced, euro-inflated grande Cappucino at Starbucks and leaving before picking it up. (And it did not register until at least 15 minutes later when I was en route to class.)
Just a hint about the title…Schwein means pig in German – witty, I know
(At least I am keeping my sense of humor!)
